Drainage and Flood Risk Engineer

Our client, a leading UK-based engineering consultancy, is seeking a highly skilled Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Engineer to join their team in Basingstoke.
We are looking for a professional with a strong background in civil engineering and hydrology, who has experience in completing flood risk assessments, surface water drainage strategies, and drainage design using Microdrainage.
The ideal candidate will have a BSc and/or MSc in Civil Engineering or Hydrology and a proven track record of working in the UK consultancy or local authority sector.
The successful candidate will have experience mentoring junior team members and managing projects, as well as a strong understanding of business development and client relationships.
This exciting role will offer the opportunity to work on a variety of residential, commercial, and renewable energy projects for local authorities, house builders, contractors, and private sector clients.
The key responsibilities of the role will include:
- Flood risk assessments for flood zones 1, 2, and 3.
- Surface water management plans.
- Surface water and foul drainage strategies.
- Detailed design of surface water and foul water drainage systems.
- SuDS Design using Microdrainage for residential tower blocks, solar, renewable, greenfield developments, and waste projects.
- Drainage Impact Assessments.
- Project management and mentoring of team members.
- Business development and client relationship management.
