We are seeking an experienced and skilled Nursing Coordinator to join our team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the overall management of the Children's Outpatient Department, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care.
Main Responsibilities:- Coordinate the planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized patient care.
- Promote a friendly and supportive atmosphere for parents and relatives, enabling them to learn to care for their children.
- Communicate effectively with the child's family/carers, the multidisciplinary team, and other departments within the trust.
- Actively participate in and contribute to the management of the clinical area.
- Mentor and supervise junior staff, including student nurses and healthcare support workers.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for children without direct supervision, utilizing evidence-based practice and a holistic approach.
- Support and promote the involvement of parents/carers in care, working together in partnership.
- Safely administer prescribed medications and monitor their side effects, adhering to local and trust policy.
- Ensure the legibility and accuracy of documentation, enabling effective handover to other staff/appropriate personnel.
- Adhere to all official recommendations, guidelines, and regulations relating to child protection.
- Report any accidents/untoward incidents/unsafe practices involving patients and/or staff to the Senior Nurse/Clinical Nurse Manager.
- RSCN or RN Child qualification.
- Within the last 18 months, up-to-date BLS certification.
- PILS provider qualification.
- Significant post-registration experience in an acute hospital setting or equivalent.
- Significant experience of working with children and families.
- Ability to document legibly and precisely.
- Experience in taking charge of a unit or coordinating a team of staff.
- Previous experience of working with children and families in an outpatient/ambulatory environment.
- Experience in managing a team on a day-to-day basis.
- Family-centred focus.
- Able to interact well with the multidisciplinary team and parents/relatives.
- Evidence of recent continuing professional development.
- Ability to conduct appraisals.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such, it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 per annum plus HCAS.
