About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Bodyshop Assistant to join our team. As a Bodyshop Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of repairs are carried out to manufacturer specifications, specifically relating to the paint process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all work is completed to the customer's satisfaction and strive to exceed their expectations.
  • Receive vehicles, job cards, and Quality Control (QC) forms from the panel shop and check the quality of repairs, taking remedial action if necessary.
  • Document any other vehicle problems noted during repairs and seek guidance from the Workshop Controller/Bodyshop Estimator if necessary.
  • Ensure that the vehicle internal car care kit is fitted to prevent dust transfer.
  • Complete flat and polishing and visual checks.
  • Check the final finish and colour match.
  • Ensure that the final check sheet and job card leave the department with the vehicle.
  • Collect and deliver vehicles from dealerships, traders, and other third parties using the appropriate trade plates in accordance with instructions.
  • Minimise wastage of all materials, oil, and fluids.
  • Ensure the maintenance of all equipment, such as the car wash, and other materials used in the completion of the job.
  • Clean up spillages during working hours and sweep and remove litter from the workshop or bodyshop floor and the car park.
  • Keep the work area neat and tidy.
  • Go and collect parts if asked by management and complete any task asked by management.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of automotive systems, basic vehicle layout, function, and location of parts.
  • Understanding of the quality control and inspection requirements of the Bodyshop department.
  • Familiarity with the tools to be used for appropriate operations, together with maintenance procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures for all bodyshop equipment.
  • Understanding of manufacturers' standards and objectives, retail facility, and individuals' objectives, both cultural and financial.
  • Ability to demonstrate a professional and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Ability to remain positive in stressful situations and work both independently and as a team.
  • Ability to record basic information.
  • Ability to distinguish minor colour discrepancies and differences.
  • Ability to identify any paint defects in the paint.
  • Ability to maintain high levels of housekeeping, mindful of cross-contamination.
  • Ability to ensure that all health and safety/COSHH legislation and internal procedures are followed and environmental best practice is observed.
  • Ability to ensure the maintenance and security of tools, equipment, and other materials.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail, ensuring the vehicle is cleaned to bodyshop standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team in a busy, active environment.
  • Ability to deal with some physical work which will be carried out in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Ability to converse in a polite, friendly business manner.
  • Ability to use a number of cleaning fluids and products.
  • Ability to drive safely, promoting customer confidence.
