Digital Software Developer for Airborne Systems

As a Senior Software Engineer with BAE Systems, you will be part of a dynamic team designing, developing, testing and maintaining real-time simulation software to support the training of fast jet aircrew.
We offer a competitive salary range of £47,683 - £52,426 (dependent on skills and experience) and a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements.
You will work as part of a team and individually, developing simulations for aircrew training simulators. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing, integrating and testing simulation models of airborne subsystems
- Defining, deriving and maintaining requirements using DOORS, with training provided for those without prior experience
- Defining, deriving and maintaining simulator design using modelling based design tools such as ARTiSAN, with training provided for those without prior experience
- Estimating timescales and working to them, providing regular feedback of progress and achievement
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A degree in Software/Computing or equivalent relevant experience
- Experience of software development covering programming in languages such as C#, C/C++, Java, ADA and Visual Basic, with coaching and mentoring opportunities available for junior engineers
- Knowledge/experience of airborne subsystems, particularly Typhoon specific subsystems, with coaching and mentoring opportunities available for junior engineers
- Knowledge of software design patterns and principles
- Experience of the software engineering lifecycle, including Agile methodologies
- Knowledge/experience of using Configuration Management and Continuous Integration/Deployment tools such as Dimensions, BitBucket and Bamboo
