Data Engineering Lead

Job Summary
MV Engineering is seeking a highly skilled Data Engineering Lead to head up our team supporting our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) services. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for improving our business data integrations, managing our scientific data real estate, and enhancing data governance processes.
About the Role
- Propose resourcing options for development and ongoing support to business/conservation systems, ensuring development projects are delivered on time and on-budget.
- Support, manage, and maintain the data fabric and underlying systems within our cloud environment.
- Support, maintain, develop, and coordinate project work on our ERP solution.
- Line Manage the Data Engineering team within the IT department.
- Research and develop best practices for MV Engineering in relation to data, advising and working alongside stakeholders to provide a highly available, continuous service.
- Closely aligned with IT support, Web, Web Development, and working with the Science and Conservation teams.
- Design, implement, and manage databases and data models using cloud-based database services.
- Design and implementation of data strategy to include data pipelines, data warehousing, and BI analytics.
Requirements
- Comprehensive experience of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) services – Azure, AWS.
- Expertise with database development and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience of cloud-based data platforms and services.
- Experience with principles of continuous integration and deployment.
- Experience of using version control (Git, GitHub).
- Comprehensive experience of databases. MySQL, TSQL, PostGIS, PostgreSQL.
- Extensive experience in scripting languages: PowerShell, bash, R, and Python.
- Proven ability to manage multiple technical projects.
