Main Responsibilities:

As a Residence Life Officer at the University of Hertfordshire, you will play a vital role in promoting a positive, healthy, and safe living/learning environment for students residing in University accommodation. Your primary focus will be on building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external, to continually improve services such as Student Wellbeing, Security, Student Union, and the Police.

Key Duties:
  • Work collaboratively with relevant professional services, academics, and external partners to ensure the best possible student outcome.
  • Manage investigations and Support to Study meetings in accordance with University policies and procedures.
  • Create and monitor accurate reports, ensuring all actions are recorded on the Reporting System.
  • Support the organisation and planning of the Residential Life Programme of Events, including arrivals and departure weekends for both semesters.
  • Recruit, train, and manage Residential Assistants.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have knowledge and experience of working in the Higher Education sector, as well as proven experience of delivering pastoral care, welfare, and wellbeing services to students. You will also need to demonstrate an excellent understanding of University Procedures and Regulations, as well as a good knowledge of national and internal news affecting HE students and its impact on student life.

Qualifications:

A minimum of a degree or equivalent, or proven relevant professional experience, and a Safeguarding Level 1 qualification are required for this role.
