About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Conservation Education Assistant to join our award-winning Conservation Education and Engagement team at Chester Zoo.

As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering our on-site, outreach, and virtual programs of workshops for schools, colleges, and universities. You will assist in the development of engaging activities, workshops, and high-quality learning resources to support our conservation efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with our Conservation Education Officers to deliver Chester Zoo's program of activities for schools, colleges, and universities.
  • Deliver workshops in-zoo, virtually, and as outreach, ensuring a high-quality learning experience for our audiences.
  • Contribute to research to maximize conservation impact, achieve learning goals, and improve visitor/audience experience.
  • Manage resources effectively to support the delivery of our programs.
  • Support and work with volunteers to enhance our conservation efforts.
  • Assist with administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our team.

  • A competitive salary of £21,752.97 per annum, based on 35 hours per week (pro-rata'd to term-time only hours for the period of employment).

Requirements
  • A good knowledge and ongoing interest in zoo-based conservation and the natural world.
  • Outstanding communication skills, particularly verbal and written communication.
  • Experience of delivering engaging workshops to a variety of audiences, including school-aged children.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and time management skills.
  • Experience of working with volunteers.
  • A full driving licence valid in the UK is essential.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience of delivering engaging workshops to groups with additional learning needs.
  • A sound and up-to-date knowledge of the National Curriculum and safeguarding legislation and policies.
