Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Master-Maritime North to join our team at Serco. As a Master-Maritime North, you will be responsible for the overall command and operation of the vessel, ensuring compliance with Flag and Class legislation, Serco Marine's Integrated Management System, and Serco Limited's policies.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the seaworthiness and safety of the vessel, crew, and embarked clients, and prevent pollution.
  • Prepare the vessel for voyage and tasking.
  • Chair shipboard management and safety committee meetings as required.
  • Liaise with operational authorities on vessel tasking and operational matters.
  • Create, maintain, and support operational and technical instructions and document undertakings.
  • Review and uphold the operational efficiency, morale, and welfare of the crew and safety of all personnel embarked.
  • Familiarize yourself with the vessel's construction, maneuverability, navigation, and equipment.
  • Be conversant with the latest Merchant Shipping Legislation and requirements of authorities at each port of call.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
  • Issue standing orders to the crew for efficient operation of the ship.
  • Establish, maintain, and review risk assessments and vessel operations for all tasks and key shipboard operations.
  • Make daily inspections of the vessel to ensure high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and preservation.
  • Submit reports on the vessel's condition and operation to the Operations and Engineering Offices.
  • Be actively involved in navigation and personally supervise the vessel's navigation in confined waters, approaching land, or during adverse weather conditions.

Requirements:

  • MCA Certificate of Competence Master GT (Near Coastal) as a minimum.
  • STCW Personal Survival Techniques (5 Year Refresher Course).
  • STCW Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (5 Year Refresher Course).
  • STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (5 Year Refresher Course).
  • STCW Certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft (5 Year Refresher Course).
  • STCW Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (5 Year Refresher Course).
  • Medical Care On board (5 Year Refresher Course).
  • STCW Elementary First Aid.
  • Unrestricted ENG1.
  • Methodical approach and good standard of education.
