Position Overview
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at GE Aviation is a medical professional designated to support the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) framework and operational functions across all sectors, markets, and operational territories of GE Aviation. The CMO will play a pivotal role in formulating, implementing, and enforcing a comprehensive Health Policy tailored for GE Aviation.

The CMO will report directly to the EHS leader and will be tasked with executing the Health component of GE Aviation's global EHS strategy. This role is crucial for ensuring the effective integration of health policies and standards within the aviation sector while fostering a robust EHS culture throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop a Health policy for GE Aviation that aligns with the overall EHS strategy, core values, and organizational culture. This policy should effectively address the following health standards:
    1. Pre-employment health assessments
    2. Health and hygiene protocols
    3. First-aid training programs
    4. Annual health check-ups and vaccinations
    5. Health documentation and medical records
    6. Substance abuse prevention measures
  2. Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify high-risk health areas and formulate emergency response strategies, including medical evacuation plans, in collaboration with EHS and business units.
  3. Provide expert guidance and support to health professionals within various business segments.
  4. Perform health audits to evaluate the effectiveness of health management systems and propose innovative solutions to enhance health practices across the aviation sector.
  5. Implement the Health policy as part of the broader EHS strategy, establishing a governance framework, enterprise-level KPIs, metrics, and reporting standards.
  6. Oversee the dissemination of health-related information and alerts on a regular basis.
  7. Collaborate with the EHS team to respond to health emergencies, including outbreaks and significant incidents.
  8. Build and maintain relationships with specialized medical institutions to ensure access to medical expertise relevant to GE Aviation's operations.
  9. Facilitate regular meetings to review strategy execution, policy adherence, and address any operational challenges.
  10. Design and execute cultural and procedural change initiatives to ensure the successful rollout of comprehensive health programs that prioritize employee and public safety in relation to GE Aviation's global operations.
Qualifications
  1. Medical Doctor (MD) degree
  2. Expertise in crisis management or emergency medicine
  3. A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience across various medical roles and settings.
  4. Over 10 years of experience in a senior health management role within the aviation or industrial sector.
  5. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster constructive relationships with stakeholders.
  6. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey information clearly and persuasively.
  7. Analytical thinker with a willingness to challenge existing assumptions through data-driven insights.

  1. Experience in conducting enterprise-wide audits and implementing change management initiatives based on findings.
  2. Knowledge of industrial hygiene, health and safety, ergonomics, and sustainability best practices.
  3. Experience in diverse environments, including manufacturing, projects, and service operations.
  4. Global leadership experience in a complex, matrixed organization.
  5. Proven ability to lead and collaborate effectively with diverse, cross-functional teams across different time zones.
  6. Demonstrated success in transforming organizational culture while achieving long-term strategic goals.
