Job Purpose:

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven individual to join our Engineering team as an apprentice. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day responsibilities in the department and gain hands-on experience in both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering while working towards a Level 3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician qualification.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend a technical college as required, leading to a recognised NVQ qualification.
  • Achieve professional Engineering Technician (Mechatronics) registration on completion of the NVQ qualification.
  • Maintain a logbook over the duration of the apprenticeship period, recording projects and documenting work undertaken and skills learned.
  • Learn and understand the importance of Health and Safety within the workplace.
  • Become proficient in the application and use of a wide range of hand tools and associated workshop machine tools.
  • Learn to understand and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Develop skills and carry out both planned and reactive maintenance from written and verbal instructions as well as drawings within an assigned trade.
  • Demonstrate skills and processes by working independently or within a team.
  • Undertake tasks as instructed, increasing overall contribution to the business.
  • Maintain and ensure general good housekeeping of the workplace locations.
  • Maintain a smart appearance and act in a professional manner working in line with values.
  • Ad-hoc projects.
  • Carry out other reasonable duties associated with the role as required.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • GCSEs in English, Maths and a Science-related subject at Grade A to C (4-9) or equivalent.
  • Highly motivated and results-oriented with a strong willingness to learn.
  • Non-compromising on health & safety and food safety.

Shift Pattern:

  • Monday to Friday, Factory-based.
