Electrical Motor and Drives Placement Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Placement Student to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Accelera Business Segment in the UK, Peterborough. During your placement, you will gain valuable experience and skills in the industry, working on exciting projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop electro-mechanical systems for electric drive units, utilizing your knowledge of electrical, thermal, and mechanical principles.
  • Collaborate with our cross-functional teams to create innovative electric powertrain solutions for commercial vehicles, including buses and trucks.
  • Serve as the local electro-mechanical expert for electric machines and electric drive units, providing technical support and guidance.
  • Help develop software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop test benches for power electronics, electric motors, and control systems to enhance product validation and testing processes.
  • Exhibit theoretical expertise and practical experience in developing models for advanced e-machine topologies intended for traction applications.

Requirements

  • Studying towards Electrical, Mechanical, or Control Engineering with experience in Electrical Motor Design, including expertise in electromagnetics, mechanical systems, and thermal management.
  • Proficiently use numerical program tools such as MATLAB/SIMULINK, Ansys/Motor-CAD, JMAG, and 3D CAD tools such as CREO or NX. Programming skills in C, Python, or other relevant languages are a plus.
  • Demonstrate a positive, open-minded attitude with a strong growth mindset, embracing challenges and driving innovation in new technologies.
  • Display excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
