As the GRAHAM Group continues to grow and develop, we seek an enthusiastic Project/Senior Quantity Surveyor to manage a significant healthcare project in the Midlands region.

This position will report to the Commercial Manager, overseeing all commercial activities on a project from procurement of Subcontract packages to final account settlement with the supply chain and the Client.

Previous experience in Healthcare, P21/P22, is desirable but not essential.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in a similar position with a main contractor and hold a full driving license.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Liaise with Estimators and establish/set up project cost allowances
  2. Measure and value subcontract and labour work only
  3. Record Subcontract Contra Charges
  4. Register subcontract payments
  5. Prepare and issue subcontract documentation
  6. Prepare and submit Interim Valuations as and when required
  7. Prepare and submit Variations/Compensation Events as and when required
  8. Ensure a register of Variations/Compensation Events is kept and updated
  9. Prepare a materials on site reconciliation with each interim measurement report showing cost versus allowances
  10. Project quantities to complete in the BoQ/Activity Schedule
  11. Ensure sites are completing weekly GRN's and Labour Allocation Sheets
  12. Ensure GRN's and Labour Allocation Sheets are Activity Coded by site
  13. Collate and value weekly Labour Allocation sheets using agreed rates
  14. Ensure weekly Plant Records (Internal and/or Ext Hired) are completed by site
  15. Collate and value Plant Record Sheets using agreed rates
  16. Regularly review the plant programme with the Site Agent and update if required
  17. Prepare monthly subcontracts liabilities/accruals at each month end
  18. Ensure timely completion of the monthly contract cost report, identify problem areas and trends, report on any monthly movements and substantiate gains/deficits on each activity code
  19. Regularly review contract cost ledger, identify and amend any ambiguities with regards to invoices and activity coding
  20. Establish and report on forecast final costs and forecast final recovery for each site under your commercial control
  21. Prepare and issue subcontract enquiries in conjunction with the Site Agent and Procurement Dept
  22. Analyse returned subcontract quotes and establish best VFM
  23. Explore and promote areas where opportunities may exist to Value Engineer
  24. Issue Subcontract Payment Notifications as and when required
  25. Issue cost allowances to the Site Agent and review budgets for work being undertaken
  26. Ensure that Subcontract Pre-Appointments are being completed by the sites
  27. Obtain subcontractors insurances and UTR details before work commences
  28. Agree subcontract final accounts in conjunction with the Site Agent
  29. Report on Subcontract buying gains and losses for each site
  30. Negotiate and agree rates/prices with Labour Only subcontractors in conjunction with the Site Agent
  31. Review recovery against Labour Only work - if paid on time basis
  32. Review disruption authorised Variation work has had/may have on site progress and other works
  33. Attend meetings as and when required with Site Agent
  34. Prepare and update budgets and cash-flow/expenditure profiles for your section
  35. Attend regular meetings with Contracts Director(s)/Contracts Manager(s) as and when required
  36. To introduce improvements, where appropriate and in consultation with the Commercial Director, to areas of your responsibility
  37. To promote the company at all times
  38. To assist in attracting and retaining staff
