Forensic Psychiatrist Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist to join our team at Ngá Tai Oranga, The Healing Tides – Personality Disorder Service.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing consultation, supervision, and advice to mental health service teams. As a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist, you will have the opportunity to teach emotion regulation skills, case conceptualisation, and risk management, as well as be part of our dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) programme as a therapist.

• Provide consultation, supervision, and advice to mental health service teams
• Teach emotion regulation skills, case conceptualisation, and risk management
• Be part of our dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) programme as a therapist
• Vocationally registered in Psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
• Experience in evidence-based therapies for treating personality disorders, including experience in clinically indicated risk taking
• Relevant experience and training

Ngá Tai Oranga, The Healing Tides – Personality Disorder Service is part of the Mental Health, Addiction and Intellectual Disability Service (MHAIDS), which spans three DHBs – Wairarapa, Hutt Valley, and Capital and Coast DHBs.
