Main Duties

As a Ward Sister - Orthopaedic, your role will involve:
  1. Coordinating the activities of the ward team to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
  2. Encouraging a culture of empowerment through coaching, teaching, and facilitating.
  3. Managing the ward in the absence of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.
  4. Managing the bed/unit bleep and coordinating flow alongside the site team and surgical flow matron.
  5. Ensuring support for all staff on the orthopaedic unit on a night.

Person Specification

We are looking for someone with the following experience and qualifications:

Essential
  1. Proven experience at Band 5 in an orthopaedic setting.
  2. Evidence of having developed skills within the Scope of Professional Practice relevant to the area of responsibility.
  3. Evidence of ward/dept management under supervision of the person with 24 hour continuing responsibility.

Desirable
  1. Proven experience at Band 6.
  2. Evidence of research-based practice.
