Position Overview

We are pleased to present an opportunity for a Consultant in Gastroenterology with a specialization in hepatology to become a part of our dedicated and compassionate Gastroenterology Team. This role is integral to our Endoscopy service expansion at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with a team of nine established Consultants in Gastroenterology.

An Enhanced DBS check, including Children and Adults barred list, will be required for the selected candidate.

Job Responsibilities

Applicants must possess MRCP or an equivalent qualification and be on the specialist register or nearing completion of their training at the time of the interview.

Knowledge Requirements

  • Understanding of the managerial structure within the NHS.

Essential Skills

  • Competence in performing all aspects of diagnostic and therapeutic upper GI Endoscopy.

Experience Criteria

  • Experience in clinical audit and its significance in Clinical Governance.
  • Commitment to training and mentoring junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals.
  • Recent experience in the fields of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

Qualifications

  • MB BS, MB ChB, or equivalent qualification.
  • Entry on the Specialist Register for General Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology or within six months of CCT.
  • MRCP (or equivalent qualification).
  • CCT in Gastroenterology and General Medicine.
