Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Systems Specialist to join our team at Leidos. As a key member of our database administration team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our Microsoft SQL Server estate and other open-source databases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Database Administration: Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain the health and performance of our database systems, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
  • Backup and Recovery: Develop and implement robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure business continuity in the event of a disaster.
  • Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect our database systems from unauthorized access and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Database Optimization: Analyze and optimize database performance to ensure optimal query execution and minimize resource utilization.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with other systems and applications, and communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure understanding of database-related issues and solutions.
Requirements
  • Technical Skills: Good working knowledge of Microsoft SQL 2012 through to 2022 Enterprise, Windows Server 2012R, and open-source databases.
  • Security and Compliance: High-level security and auditing best practices knowledge.
  • Problem-Solving and Communication: Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strong communication and collaboration skills.
