Talent84 LTD is a leading international FMCG manufacturer based in Northumberland, seeking a skilled Civil Engineer to join their team.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and undertaking civil engineering projects, including the maintenance of the factory, office, roads, drains, services, and other buildings across the site.

Main Responsibilities

  1. To plan and lead/assist in designated civil engineering projects, ensuring completion within allocated timescales and budget, including preparation and monitoring of estimates and costs.
  2. To plan, install, and commission new equipment, and conduct/lead price and contract negotiations with suppliers in cooperation with the technical purchasing department.
  3. To provide recommendations increasing plant efficiency and cost effectiveness, working closely with the engineering departments (Electrical/Mechanical) on specific areas and projects.
  4. To ensure the workplace is kept in a clean and tidy condition, acting as the first line of contact for repairs and maintenance work on site, alongside arranging and monitoring the work, in relation to quality, cost, and safety.
  5. To act as main contact to external service providers, such as Building/Maintenance/Engineering contractors and Industrial Cleaners, and manage contract labour engaged in the project and services section.
  6. To act as client or principle contractor as required under HSE (CDM) regulations, and observe health and safety requirements at all times, including the management of the selection of external contractors in terms of their safety procedures and records in conjunction with the Safety Department.
  7. To assist in planning and alterations to the buildings on site, and communicate and liaise with relevant authorities regarding planning permissions if and when required, as well as attending meetings with local residents if and when required.
  8. To ensure DWG are up to date and correct, including by liaising with CAD operator(s) if required, and ensure a CAD archive is used for historical information.
  9. To attend training courses and meetings as necessary.
  10. To provide out of hours support if required.
  11. To demonstrate professional competence and development by keeping skills up to date and in providing evidence of continuing professional development.

About You

To be considered for the role, it is essential that you possess demonstrable experience gained in Civil Engineering, ideally working on large-scale projects on manufacturing/engineering sites.

Minimum Requirements

  1. An ONC/HNC/HND/degree or equivalent in engineering/civil engineering/building.
  2. Intermediate standard of IT skills and competent use of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  3. Ability to use AutoCAD advantageous but not essential.
  4. An SMSTS or CSCS qualification is desirable.
  5. Basic knowledge of relevant SAP module.
