The Role
The new Head of Communications – Media and Publications will lead the design and delivery of the council's media strategy and approach, ensuring they are aligned to corporate objectives outlined in Southwark 2030.
You will lead and develop all aspects of the council's media relationships, media risk management, and core publications, managing stakeholder relationships and supporting the management of the council's external reputation.
This is a key role reporting to the Director of Communications, Engagement and Change, that will lead media strategies using all communications platforms available.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive media strategy to promote the council's services and initiatives.
- Manage media relationships and ensure effective communication with key stakeholders.
- Oversee the production of core publications, including Southwark Life and e-news.
- Support the management of the council's external reputation through proactive media engagement.
Requirements
We are looking for an experienced communications professional with a strong track record of leading media-related services in a complex politically-led organisation.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
A strong understanding of media relations, risk management, and publication production is essential.
