Unlock Your Potential as a Social Work Apprentice

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people? Do you want to develop your skills and knowledge in social work while earning a salary? Look no further

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and caring individual to join our team as a Social Work Apprentice. As a Residential Child Care Worker, you will work with children and young people aged 11-17 who are unable to live safely with their parents or family due to adverse childhood experiences and trauma.

You will be responsible for providing 1:1 support, engaging children in activities, and linking with other professionals to ensure their needs are met. In Year 2, you will work in the Children and Family Wellbeing Service or an Outreach team, holding your own caseload and completing Early Help assessments, chairing meetings, and direct work.

In Year 3, you will join a Social Work team, working alongside Social Workers to develop your skills and prepare you for the role. Your overall purpose will be to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people in Lancashire, ensuring the right support is provided by the right service at the right time.

What We Offer
  • Earn while you learn, studying for a Social Work Degree with UCLan while working for Lancashire County Council.
  • University fees paid for the duration of the 3-year programme.
  • Commitment from the Service that you will be offered a permanent Social Worker role upon successful completion of the Apprenticeship Programme.
  • 20% off-the-job training, with students attending University one day a week for the full duration of the 3-year programme.
