About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive individual to fill a Teaching Assistant position in a local school in St Albans.

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher to create a positive learning environment, supporting the development of pupils and promoting their academic and social growth.

The role involves managing and supporting pupil behaviour, both within the classroom and on a 1:1 basis, and de-escalating any behavioural concerns in accordance with safeguarding specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the class teacher in delivering lessons and creating an active learning environment
  • Manage and support pupil behaviour, promoting respect and inclusivity
  • De-escalate behavioural concerns and work with the class teacher to develop strategies for supporting pupils
  • Take initiative in the classroom to support pupils and aid the class teacher in creating a positive learning environment
  • Be prepared to take over parts of a lesson at short notice, as required

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a proven track record in a similar position, excellent communication skills, and the ability to create nurturing relationships with students. You will also need to have a DBS on the update service, two references within the last two years, and the right to work in the UK.
