Job Summary:

This is a unique opportunity to join the Royal Surrey as the Senior Professional Director of Midwifery and Paediatric Nursing. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the midwifery and paediatric services, providing strategic direction and expertise in these areas. The role will involve working closely with the Chief Nurse, senior nursing and midwifery colleagues, Clinical Directors and external partners to develop and implement high-quality maternity care services.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and direction for midwives and nursing staff within the Maternity and Paediatric Services.
  • Act as the point of contact for advice and expertise on all matters relating to professional midwifery issues and safeguarding children.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the quality and safety of maternity care services.
  • Work closely with the Divisional Teams to provide senior midwifery and nursing expertise that facilitates the effective deployment of the midwifery and nursing workforce.
  • Support, challenge and contribute to the performance review process.

Requirements:
  • Registered Midwifery Qualification and eligible to practice.
  • Appropriate management and/or postgraduate qualification or experience in leadership of clinical services.
  • Extensive experience in leading maternity services.
  • Master's Degree or equivalent academic qualification.
