Mental Health Specialist for Children and Young People

About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to continue the valuable work on our mental health support project. This innovative initiative aims to integrate mental health screening and psychological intervention into routine practice for children and young people with epilepsy across our Integrated Care System (ICS).
You will work within a team of experienced Clinical Psychologists at York Hospital, collaborating with professionals from various CYP services across the ICS. Your clinical caseload will support the wider remit of the paediatric psychology service.
The focus of this role is to embed screening and psychological interventions into daily practice and evaluate the project's impact through data collection and reporting.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide specialist psychological advice, guidance, and consultation to other professionals contributing to patients' formulation, diagnosis, and treatment plans.
- Utilize research skills for audit, policy, and service development, as well as leading on research projects.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies, and issues related to the specific patient group, mental health, clinical paediatric psychology, health psychology, and neuropsychology.
- Adhere to the highest standards of clinical record keeping, including electronic data entry, recording, and report writing.
- Work within professional guidelines, overall frameworks, and policies and procedures for Psychology in Child Health.
We are looking for an exceptional candidate with post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology, specifically in models of child and adolescent psychology, clinical psychometrics, and neuropsychology. Essential experience includes specialist psychological assessment and treatment of children, young people, and families across various care settings.
Candidates should possess strong communication skills, both orally and in writing, and be able to provide consultation to other professional groups. A doctoral level understanding of research methodology, research design, and complex data analysis is also required.
