Job Summary

The Senior Power Systems Analyst will report directly to the Lead Power Systems Analyst and contribute to the development and growth of our fast-paced team. Key responsibilities include conducting advanced computer modeling and analysis for transmission grids, system design studies, energy market analyses, generation, and load interconnection applications.

This role requires providing technical support to connection processes while collaborating with internal teams, including marketing and sales. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop and simulate various use cases in response to customer site-specific requirements.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, expertise in MS Office, and excellent communication and presentation abilities to effectively present data analysis and simulation results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Economic operation of power systems (optimal dispatch and unit commitment)
  • Power system markets and forecasting through machine learning
  • Development and analysis of full-country electrical networks for GB, AUS, and Spain
  • Support for the marketing and sales team to develop and simulate various use cases
  • Collaboration with our engineering teams based in Australia, Dubai, and London
  • Performing Steady-State, Short Circuit, Transient Stability, protective device coordination, electromagnetic transient (EMT) analyses and arc flash studies using simulation tools like Digsilent Powerfactory and PSCAD
  • Steady-state and dynamic modeling of synchronous and inverter-based generators for power flow/stability analysis
  • Voltage-Ride Through (VRT), Frequency Ride-Through (FRT), and reactive power requirements
  • Preparing reports, drawings, and one-line diagrams
  • Generating and maintaining data for other engineering-related studies
  • Exploring alternative engineering solutions for project optimization
  • Providing power systems technical support on Executive Design
  • Offering technical assistance during design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases
  • Familiarity with equipment selection and specification considering technical, commercial, operational, reliability, and safety aspects
  • Automation and control expertise in monitoring systems
  • Performing other power systems duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Masters degree or degree in Electrical Engineering or STEM specialized in Energy Systems or Automation Systems
  • 3 years of experience in power systems analysis (or PhD)
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of grid functioning and planning
  • Experience with power system modeling in Electrical Engineering software
  • Basic coding skills
  • Expertise in MS Office
  • Fluency in English
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to present data analysis and simulation results
  • Passion for power system modeling and computational modeling

Salary: £80,000 - £110,000 per annum
