Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Implementation Engineer to join our Sampson Radar Software team at BAE Systems Maritime Services.

Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of circa £55,000 per annum, commensurate with skills and experience, as well as a range of benefits including a pension scheme, enhanced annual leave allowance, and a Company contributed Share Incentive Plan.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and develop solutions, resolve engineering issues and problems for a range of software products within the 30-strong software team.
  • Support the ongoing maintenance of software that is part of the naval radars in service with the Royal Navy on multiple platforms.
  • Be responsible for the requirements, design, implementation, testing and verification of the software subsystems on the Naval radars.
  • Develop and enhance the capability of the radar products for the RN by designing and developing subsystems including replacement of obsolete hardware and software.
  • Work as part of a cohesive team of software engineers across multiple projects and products.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Hold a BEng/BSc in Computer Science or other relevant Engineering or Numerate subject.
  • Have considerable experience of using at least one high-level programming language and a high-level design methodology.
  • Have experience of all stages of the software lifecycle and good knowledge of software lifecycle models and appropriate software standards.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of configuration management and experience of a configuration management tool.
