Academic Opportunity in Business and Tourism

This role involves teaching and research in the field of business and tourism management. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of business principles and tourism management, as well as experience in delivering lectures and supervising student projects.

The Global Banking School seeks a motivated lecturer to enhance our academic offerings. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching across a range of modules, including Understanding Customers, Tourism Marketing Principles, and Entrepreneurship in Tourism.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess student work to ensure all learning outcomes are met
  • Develop, update, and improve course materials as appropriate
  • Use a variety of learning and teaching methods, including live online learning
  • Attend meetings to contribute to decision-making and develop working relationships
  • Participate in staff development activities and peer observations
  • Understand and support student needs
  • Meet performance management objectives for student outcomes, satisfaction, retention, and attendance
  • Undertake administrative duties as agreed with the line manager

Requirements:

  • Master's level in a relevant subject area and a PhD or equivalent professional experience
  • Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Previous lecturing experience in similar courses
  • Experience supervising student work and providing support and feedback
  • Experience teaching in the wider subject area
  • Experience with distance learning and supporting learners online and face-to-face
  • Professional conduct and extensive knowledge of relevant subject matter
  • Firm commitment to personal and professional development
  • Attention to detail and accurate reporting
  • Ability to maintain thorough and organised student records
  • Ability to work under pressure and plan workload to meet deadlines
  • Highly motivated and able to work with minimum supervision
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-working skills
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people
