Salary Details

The salary for this position is £15.00 per hour, with 42 hours worked per week. This includes working every other weekend. Additionally, the successful candidate can expect a range of benefits, including:

Job Description

The care home chef/cook will be responsible for preparing and cooking nutritious meals using fresh ingredients. Key responsibilities include:

  • Scheduling weekly meal menus, taking into account individual dietary requirements
  • Working with the Home Manager to ensure stock ordering aligns with budgetary requirements
  • Collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure meal plans and dietary requirements are incorporated into individual support plans and risk assessments
  • Maintaining quality assurance systems within the kitchen
  • Supervising other kitchen team members
  • Ensuring a full understanding of Health & Safety as well as Food Hygiene issues, COSHH, and working within guidelines relating to contamination and cross infection
  • Participating in meaningful activities with residents and promoting independence, choice, dignity, and respect
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience of cooking for large numbers
  • NVQ Level 2 in catering and hospitality
  • At least 2 years' experience in a catering environment
  • 12 months experience in managing a kitchen
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
