Job Title: Specialist Nurse for Safeguarding (Neonates)

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and passionate nurse to join our team and make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable families. As a Specialist Nurse for Safeguarding, you will be responsible for providing expert guidance and support to medical, nursing, and corporate teams to ensure that the organisation and the unit fulfill their safeguarding responsibilities.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Provide Safeguarding supervision and guidance to staff
  2. Work closely with key stakeholders to develop and implement safeguarding plans
  3. Design and deliver bespoke safeguarding training to staff
  4. Lead and participate in discharge planning meetings, core groups, case conferences, and child in need meetings
  5. Drive and empower a culture that focuses on safeguarding and early help, influencing the nursing and medical workforce
  6. Understand thresholds of referrals to social care and for family support, seeking guidance and support when unsure
  7. Professionally and respectfully challenge when necessary
  8. Excellent communication skills, both non-verbal and written
  9. Work within thresholds, guidance, and policy, escalating where appropriate
  10. Compassionately support immediate and extended family members to care for their baby
  11. Signpost for support where necessary at the right time
Requirements
  • RGN/RM/RCN registration
  • Related postgraduate safeguarding module/course
  • Specialist community public health degree
  • Communication course
  • Leadership course
