Job Summary:

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Operating Department Practitioner to join our dynamic Theatre team at Wycombe Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Operating Department Practitioner or Anaesthetic Nurse to work in a variety of specialist areas, including Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Colorectal, Gynaecology, and General Theatres.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work as a skilled member of the Operating Theatre Anaesthetic Team.
  • Coordinate the use of supplies and equipment to ensure safe and efficient practices.
  • Participate in Safety Checks, including WHO Team Brief, Time In and Time Out, and Mandatory Patient checks.
  • Assist Anaesthetic teams throughout the perioperative phase of care.
  • Communicate effectively with all staff involved in patient care.
  • Monitor and manage stock items, including consumables and equipment.
  • Document all accidents, incidents, and complaints, and report them to the appropriate manager.

Requirements:

  • Registered ODP or NMC Registered Nurse (Adult).
  • Appropriate Anaesthetic course.
  • Experience at a Band 5 within a related field.
  • Previous experience in teaching, coaching, mentoring, or recognised advanced specialist training in chosen field (or equivalent experience).
