About the Programme
The Electrical Engineer Graduate Programme at EDF is a 15-month training programme designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the nuclear energy industry. As an electrical engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects, rotate through different placements, and develop your technical knowledge and understanding in a practical environment.
What You'll Do
- Drive Grid Code compliance
- Review the design of electrical systems, including switchgear, transformers, batteries, chargers, UPS, power converters, steam and diesel generators, electrical protection, synchronising and interlocking schemes of the Electrical Distribution System
- Develop the nuclear safety case as HPC and SZC move through their project life cycles
- Hands-on trouble-shooting with site technical teams
- Support the HPC commissioning teams
Training and Development
You'll have access to a tailored training path to enhance your skills and knowledge, including courses covering nuclear fundamentals, EPR systems, communications, and health & safety. Our programme is accredited with a number of professional institutions, and we'll support you to gain chartership with the relevant professional body.
Work Location
Throughout the programme, you'll have the chance to explore a variety of our sites, immersing yourself in the diversity of our business. The main locations you could be based at are:
- Gloucester Business Park, Gloucester
- Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater
- Sizewell C, Suffolk
- Any one of our Operating Stations
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for someone with a genuine interest in nuclear energy, the power generation industry, and technology, with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, and a keen ability to solve technical problems. You must meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which generally requires you to have been a UK resident for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
