Sociology Teacher Job Description

As a dynamic and ambitious individual, we invite you to apply for the position of Sociology Teacher, working 3 days a week at a thriving mixed comprehensive Secondary school in Greenwich.

This exciting opportunity allows you to develop and deliver engaging sociology lessons to students at KS4 and KS5 level, fostering a love for learning and inspiring young minds.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans in sociology, promoting critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Maintain a safe, organised, and inclusive classroom environment, ensuring students feel valued and supported.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a positive and productive learning community, driving academic excellence.
  • Assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and guidance to help them achieve their full potential.
  • Contribute to the development of school policies and procedures, promoting a culture of respect and inclusivity.
Requirements:
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management skills, maintaining a positive and respectful learning environment.
  • Possess a minimum of recent mainstream school-based experience teaching sociology in a secondary school setting.
  • Show genuine passion for education and a commitment to supporting students' academic achievement.
  • Display superb communication skills, enabling strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
