Carter Jonas is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic surveyor to join our dynamic Infrastructure Team based in Birmingham. Our team is the fastest growing of its kind in the country, with 180 people in seven offices around the UK. We work with major clients including Network Rail, HS2, National Highways, National Grid, and the Crown Estate, operating mainly in rural areas.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Land and property valuation
  • Negotiation of compensation and disturbance claims arising from construction works
  • Rural asset management, including direct contact with clients, tenants, and contractors for renewals, rent reviews, and maintenance works
  • Rural property lettings and tenders
  • Site visits and property inspections
  • Face-to-face and virtual engagement with landowners, stakeholders, and their professional representatives
  • Consents for access across third-party land for works
  • CPO promotion work
  • Develop and undertake new business/relationship opportunities and drive forward initiatives in the local area with a focus on claimants/landowners
  • An active role in the continuous development of efficient, 'best practice' internal systems and processes, optimizing IT and other resources
  • Implementation of policy as required and ensuring legal compliance on all work carried out
  • Management of surveyors working across the team
  • Mentoring and coaching junior members of the team through their professional development

Requirements:

We are looking for a RICS-qualified surveyor with PQE experience in a commercial, rural, or infrastructure surveying role, with a business development-orientated attitude and a focus on delivering excellent customer service. Compulsory purchase experience is highly desirable, although not essential, as we have excellent training available through our CPO Academy. Valuation experience as a RICS Registered Valuer is also beneficial. You must demonstrate good working knowledge of relevant legislation and have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
