Pastoral Head of Year Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Pastoral Head of Year to support the personal and academic growth of students in our secondary school. The successful candidate will provide high-quality pastoral care and guidance to students within their year group, working closely with students, parents, and staff to ensure student well-being and academic progress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide pastoral care and guidance to students within the year group, addressing any concerns proactively.
- Work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff to ensure student well-being and academic progress.
- Monitor attendance, behaviour, and academic performance, addressing any concerns proactively.
- Support students in overcoming barriers to learning and personal development.
- Lead and contribute to whole-school initiatives to promote positive behaviour and a supportive learning environment.
- Collaborate with senior leadership, teachers, and support staff to ensure the effective implementation of pastoral policies.
- Organise and deliver year group assemblies and events, encouraging a sense of community and achievement.
Ideal Candidate:
- A proven track record in a pastoral or student support role, ideally in a secondary school setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- A confident leader with excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to student welfare.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour and support students with diverse needs.
- A positive and resilient approach, with the ability to inspire and motivate young people.
