Job Description

At Latcom Ltd, we are seeking an experienced Principal Ecologist to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in leading and managing projects related to UK Habitat Classification Surveys and protected species surveys.

About the Role

We are offering a competitive salary of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience, for this challenging and rewarding position. As a Principal Ecologist, you will be responsible for project management, building tenders, creating complex fee quotations, producing technical reports, and line management of junior ecologists.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Management of UK Habitat Classification Surveys and protected species surveys
• Building tenders and creating complex fee quotations at speed
• Producing complex technical reports (PEA reports, BNG reports, protected species reports, Habitat Management Plans, BREEAM reports, HRAs, and EcIAs)
• Managing medium to large-sized projects with the ability to track financial progress
• Line management of junior ecologists
• Logistical and legislative problem-solving

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have full membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology & Environmental Management (MCIEEM), a relevant bachelor's degree or higher, and at least one protected species licence. A Personal Track Safety accreditation is also desirable.

Bonus Points

In addition to the above requirements, we are looking for candidates with a desire for line management, a construction/Civils background or knowledge, delivery phase project management experience, an interest in Habitat Creation, excellent knowledge of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), prioritizing workloads and completing tasks in a timely manner, high attention to detail, especially in technical reporting, a strong understanding of UK wildlife legislation, and clear and consistent communication skills.
