Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Specialist to join our Engineering Department at the Tata Steel site in the UK. As an Automation Specialist, you will be integral to our team, providing specialist engineering support to our manufacturing production lines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to manufacturing production lines
  • Diagnose and resolve plant breakdowns
  • Design, develop, and implement software modifications and improvements to plant equipment
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of automation systems
  • Collaborate with colleagues to identify and implement process improvements

Requirements

  • Qualifications: Time served apprenticeship and educated to HNC level or above in an Electrical/Electronic/Instrumentation discipline.
  • Experience: A minimum of significant experience working in a similar role or manufacturing environment.
  • Key Skills:
    • Experience with Allen Bradley Control/Compact Logix OR Siemens S7 PLC's is essential.
    • AC or DC Invertor drives, fault finding, commissioning, and programming.
    • Instrumentation knowledge, maintaining and fault finding control loops.
    • Some SCADA and HMI development experience.
    • Good knowledge of health and safety.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work on own initiative.
    • Some knowledge of Hydraulic & Pneumatic systems.
