About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our team at South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in delivering our medicines optimisation and dispensary services in our brand-new state-of-the-art building and pharmacy dispensary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and maintain medication supply to wards and teams
  • Initiate medicines reconciliation for newly admitted patients
  • Accredited MOPTs and/or Accredited Checking Technician training (ACT)
  • Provide 1:1 patient counselling on newly initiated medicine
  • Communicate discharge information to patients, Community Pharmacies, and GPs
  • Participate in the ongoing development of the pharmacy technician's role in Medicines Optimisation at team level for both inpatient wards and community teams
  • Lead on clozapine blood test reviews, ordering, and releasing
  • Active involvement in Quality Improvement projects and clinical audit
  • Organize the clinical workload and staffing levels to ensure the service is run efficiently and cost-effectively
  • Maintain accurate stock control and oversee the maintenance of medicines on wards and in the dispensary
  • Supervise the work of junior pharmacy technicians, Pre-registration Trainee pharmacy technicians, pharmacy assistants, and students at team level
Requirements
  • ONVQ Level 3, BTEC, or similar nationally recognised qualification in pharmaceutical sciences
  • Accreditation in Medicines Management or equivalent experience
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Evidence of continuing professional and personal development
  • Possession of Accredited Checking technician qualification
  • Practice supervisor qualification
