Quantity Surveyor - Utilities Civils Contract Specialist

As a Quantity Surveyor with Wellington Professional Recruitment, you will be responsible for evaluating utilities civils contracts as a principle contractor. You will collect and review worksheets completed by sub-contractors' employees on a weekly basis, prepare and submit weekly progress claims to the client, and conduct valuations to be agreed with the Client QS representative on a bi-weekly basis.

You will also support the preparation and submission of project variations in line with contract timelines, review and sign off sub-contractor invoices to be passed to accounts for payment, and prepare and submit client Final Accounts. Daily liaison with on-field supervisors and site teams will be essential, with site visits as and when required.

Assessing, reviewing, and mitigating commercial and contractual risks will be a key aspect of the role, as well as providing commercial and contractual expertise to contracts, drafting, and issuing correspondence. Time management is crucial, with a fast-track project requiring weekly applications submitted to the client.

Meet project deliverables on time and with emphasis on quality, attending and providing commercial input to weekly internal meetings, with a focus on budget monitoring. Monitor production outputs closely produced by in-house and sub-contractor teams with regular dialogue between the commercial department and site supervisors.

This role requires a Quantity Surveying-related degree or qualification and NEC3 contract knowledge. Experience of working with civils/ utilities sector is essential, as well as a sound understanding of the different elements involved in the development of a telecoms network. Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage and negotiate with sub-contractors/suppliers are also required.

Able to use Excel and other MS packages to an intermediate to advanced level, adherence to health and safety is also essential.
