Job Title: Principal C&I Engineer

Description: We are seeking a highly skilled electrical engineer with expertise in designing and developing high-integrity control systems for submarines. As a Principal (C&I) Engineer at BAE Systems, you will be working in a sub-systems engineering team to design, develop, integrate, manage, and support control systems for in-service/future submarines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing and developing high-integrity control systems for submarines
  • Collaborating with system owners, suppliers, and customers to support manufacture and delivery of C&I equipment
  • Developing technical documentation and schematics for system design, functional design, validation, verification, test, qualification, and manufacture contracts
  • Integrating systems containing electronic, mechanical, and software sub-systems, ensuring the potential impact on the whole boat and interfacing systems
  • Leading technical work packages, managing design, and delivering evidence

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Understanding of C&I systems design and demonstrable career experience with these systems
  • Degree-level qualification (or equivalent experience) in a relevant STEM subject (Engineering/ Physics/ Maths/ Science)
  • Knowledge of the system engineering lifecycle with the ability to apply good systems engineering practices to your work
  • Experience with leading and coaching others
  • Chartered engineer or working towards this level
