Key Engineer for Decarbonisation Projects

The OpportunityDue to our ongoing growth, we seek a skilled Design Engineer from a Mechanical or Building Services background to join our specialist team of Engineers based out of our Scotland office near Glasgow.
As part of the Engineering Design team, you will be involved in producing conceptual to fully detailed designs covering District and Communal Heating Systems, Energy Centres, Trigeneration Solutions and Heat Pumps. Your work will encompass diverse projects at various stages and locations, requiring initial conceptual work, site investigations, surveys, client meetings, project submissions and presentations.
You can expect no two projects to be identical. One week, you may focus on designing renewable energy solutions for a hospital's decarbonisation, while another week involves a multimillion-pound design project for a district heating scheme with a local authority.
The Role- Support the design of distributed energy schemes, energy centres, district heating networks and other major projects.
- Interpret and document client requirements accurately.
- Carry out calculations, equipment selection and process operation.
- Produce schematics and detailed drawings.
- Maintain awareness of cost implications within the design process.
- Deal with design issues effectively and minimise their impact.
- Evaluate CDM requirements and ensure compliance with in-house processes.
- Conduct HAZOP studies and Risk Assessments.
- Assist in specifying mechanical aspects for tendering works.
- A minimum of HNC/HND level education in Mechanical, Building Services or similar Engineering discipline.
- Desirable: Degree-level qualification.
- Design experience in at least one field: Building Services, CHP, Boilers/Heating, HVAC, Steam, Air Handling, Cooling, Renewable Energy (e.g Solar or Heat Pumps), or similar.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
We offer a competitive salary ranging from £35,000 to £50,000 depending on experience, plus benefits such as a contributory Company Pension Scheme, Non-contributory death-in-service insurance, Employee Assistance Programme, 25 Days Holiday plus 8 days bank holidays and additional holidays awarded in line with length of service.
