Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor

A nationally recognized M&E contractor is seeking a senior M&E quantity surveyor to join their team working on a data centre in Gloucester.

This project involves the restructure and expansion of an existing data hall in a live environment. As a senior quantity surveyor, you will be based on site full-time with a team of project managers, site managers, and a QS working together to deliver this 52-week programme.

The scope includes creating a new white space, replacing existing generators with new ones, new Electrical LV infrastructure, new HV Tx, and diversion of existing HV supply. Civil works involve ground clearance of trees and shrubs to make way for new mechanical equipment, groundwork for new bases, etc.

Internal fit-out includes a steel frame for internal rooms, modifications to the existing building to form openings, installation of louvres, raised access floor installation, and mezzanine floor installation. M&E includes usual data centre items like mechanical cooling, AC, fire protection, BMS, containment, PDUs, cabling, comms, and fire systems.

This project has an estimated value of £12M+ and requires a skilled quantity surveyor with experience in commercial projects. The ideal candidate will have completed a quantity surveying degree and have strong knowledge of budgeting, reporting, developing BOQs, and profit plans.

As a senior quantity surveyor, you will be comfortable working at a senior level administering contract obligations and managing commercial meetings with the client and internal project team. Experience negotiating with the client and subcontractors is essential.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 7+ years of quantity surveying experience essential on commercial projects.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Detailed knowledge of commercial management and QS role within construction.
  • Overall understanding of business, client, and subcontractor relations, and installations.
