Production Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a Production Engineer to join our team at the Institute of the Motor Industry. limited. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining production processes and procedures across Fabrication and/or assembly operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Developing and maintaining production processes and procedures
  2. Leading and implementing process improvement activities to reduce waste and improve efficiency
  3. Supporting new product introduction and ensuring effective collaboration between Engineering & Production
  4. Gathering relevant production data throughout the New Product Development process
  5. Maintaining production process documentation
  6. Designing and implementing tools and Equipment to improve the production process
  7. Designing and implementing production flow lines, factory floor plans and modular workstations
  8. Contributing to the Design for Manufacture process
  9. Identifying areas for producibility and quality improvements in assembly, test and product design

Requirements:

  1. HNC or HND or Degree in mechanical engineering or similar with experience in a bespoke fabrication & assembly environment
  2. The ability to generate clear production assembly work instructions
  3. Experience of developing production flow lines
  4. Experience and knowledge of industrial engineering or project engineering
  5. General knowledge in areas of root cause corrective action, lean and project planning
  6. Experience in Mechanical CAD programs such as AutoCAD, Solidworks, Creo, or similar packages

  1. Base salary of £45,000 per annum, potentially negotiable, PLUS Annual company bonus
  2. 33 days holiday, increasing to 38 days holiday with service
