Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Pharmacy Clinical Operations Director to lead our pharmacy clinical trial services across the trust. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and operational expertise to ensure the safe and effective provision of medicines to patients.

About the Role

This is a senior management position responsible for the development and coordination of a governance and legal framework for the pharmacy clinical trial supply services. The successful candidate will be accountable for budgetary controls, resources, and pay and non-pay budgets. They will also be responsible for managing teams of Pharmacists and Specialist Pharmacy Technicians (Dispensary managers) Trust wide.

Key Responsibilities
  • To develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with legal and statutory controls in a safe and effective manner.
  • To manage and maintain the stock holding of clinical trial medicines at adequate levels and monitor stock regularly.
  • To ensure the secure storage of medicines and comply with all legal frameworks relating to medicines storage and supply.
  • To provide expert opinion within and outside pharmacy to ensure safe and effective provision of medicines.
  • To liaise and engage with stakeholders in other healthcare organizations to meet appropriate service needs.
  • To provide professional leadership and support to colleagues within pharmacy clinical trial services.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong background in pharmacy practice, preferably in a clinical trial setting.
  • Experience of leading and managing teams of pharmacists and specialist pharmacy technicians.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and make informed decisions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with NHS policies and procedures.
Working Arrangements

This post requires occasional weekend, Bank Holiday, and late-night working on a rotational basis. You must be willing to participate in these arrangements as part of your normal working duties.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is £85,000 - £95,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition, you will receive a range of benefits including annual leave, pension scheme, and access to training and development opportunities.
