Computational Scientist and Computational Biology Placement

This placement offers a unique opportunity to work with our team of computational scientists and biologists, applying cutting-edge techniques to drive high-quality drug discovery and development decisions.

To be eligible, you must be currently studying an undergraduate degree in a relevant field, such as life sciences, biomedical sciences, engineering, mathematics, bioinformatics, or computational sciences. You will have completed a minimum of two years of your undergraduate degree but will not have graduated at the start of your placement.

As a computational scientist, you will work on projects that involve writing scripts in programming languages such as R or Python, processing and analysing genomics data, and developing programming skills in cloud and high-performance computing environments.

Our team is committed to delivering state-of-the-art mechanistic safety studies with novel modelling and risk assessment approaches. As a systems toxicologist, you will apply mathematical modelling approaches to understand safety profiles of drugs in discovery or development and explore potential adverse effects.

We are also seeking a cheminformatics data scientist to contribute to our machine learning platforms and models, conduct data analysis and visualisation, and utilise datasets from various fields such as bioactivity, physical chemistry properties, DMPK, and toxicology.

This placement offers a competitive salary of £24,700 plus a bonus, and the opportunity to gain scientific knowledge and develop programming skills in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Key placement activities include:

  • Writing scripts in R or Python to evaluate different biological network analysis approaches.
  • Processing, analysing, and integrating genomics data and gene annotations.
  • Developing programming skills in cloud and high-performance computing environments.
