Communications Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive communications and engagement specialist to work for the NHS Integrated Care Board in the North East and North Cumbria (NENC). The postholder will have a specific focus on supporting the Northern Cancer Alliance to improve outcomes and experience for cancer patients in our region by leading the delivery of a communications and involvement strategy for key programmes.
Main ResponsibilitiesThe postholder will be a key member of the ICB's communication and involvement teams and will lead the development and implementation of communication and involvement strategies for the Northern Cancer Alliance (NCA) - working closely with colleagues within the Alliance, and a wide range of other partners. Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing effective engagement and communications plans to ensure the ICB meets its statutory duties.
- Ensuring that communication and engagement best practice is embedded across NCA programmes and that communications are accessible, timely, and appropriately targeted.
- Coordinating communications and engagement activities with NHS trusts and other partners to ensure effective stakeholder engagement.
- Planning and delivering communications and engagement/involvement plans, including formal consultations and large-scale events.
- Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholder groups, including the voluntary and community sector, local authorities, and Healthwatch.
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree or equivalent experience and significant experience in a large, complex organisation using a wide range of engagement techniques. They will have a proven track record of developing and implementing effective engagement and communications plans and tracking and managing project delivery and evaluation.
