Job Summary:
As a Marine Assurance Specialist at BP Shipping, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct assessments and inspections of vessel owners/managers, terminal & port facilities, and STS contractors. You will also provide support and technical guidance on marine standards and assist third-party contractors employed by BP businesses for assessment/inspection and specific Shipping/Marine projects worldwide.

The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of marine operations and management systems, excellent analytical skills, and ability to work independently. If you are passionate about the maritime industry and eager to make a meaningful contribution, we encourage you to apply.

Salary Range:$150,000 - $200,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:
The Marine Assurance Specialist will be responsible for:
  1. Conducting assessments and inspections of vessels, terminals, and ports.
  2. Providing technical guidance on marine standards and assisting contractors.
  3. Supporting the development and implementation of marine assurance strategies.
  4. Collaborating with internal stakeholders to achieve business objectives.


Requirements:
To succeed as a Marine Assurance Specialist, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
  • Degree in a relevant field, such as marine engineering, naval architecture, or a related discipline.
  • Class II/2 or III/2 (Master/Chief Mate or Chief/second Engineer) and experience as Master/Chief Officer or Chief Engineer/2nd Engineer on board oil, gas or chemical tankers.
  • Equivalent professional marine qualification/experience with a shipping background and substantial experience in Ship operations/management and/or marine terminal operations/management and experience on board oil, gas or chemical tankers.
  • STS Contractor Assessments: Purpose; Conducting the STS Contractor Assessment.
  • Vessel Inspection Programmes: Purpose; Planning and quality control of Vessel Inspections.
  • Risk Assessments: Leading Risk Assessments, Coordinating MoC Process.
  • Knowledge of project planning processes.
  • Hazard identification and Risk Assessment experience.
