Children's Community Nurse

Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Community Children's Nurse to join our team at Douglas Macmillan Hospice. As a key member of our palliative care team, you will work closely with children, young people, and their families to provide personalized care and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care plans for children and families in partnership with them and other professionals.
- Provide effective care, treatment, and management in the community and/or hospice settings, ensuring care delivered meets predetermined standards.
- Work in partnership with parents/carers and children to actively involve them in the implementation and evaluation of care plans, educating them about their condition, its significance, and management of symptoms.
- Promote the use of research/evidence-based nursing practice, keeping up-to-date with current local and national developments.
- Maintain accurate nursing/care records for all children, young people, and families, providing information for them and facilitating parents to make informed decisions relating to their child's care.
- Work collaboratively with local clinical teams and ensure effective day-to-day communication in respect of children's and young people's health and care management with parents/carers.
- Contribute to the protection of children at risk in accordance with the area safeguarding procedures, acting as an advocate for the child and family.
Requirements
- Registered Children's Nurse/RNCB
- ENB 998 or C&G 7307 or equivalent
- Children's Palliative Care experience
- Staff coordination
- Ability to prioritize a busy and complex workload, evidence of completing tasks in a timely manner, and command the confidence and respect of children, families, and staff while remaining approachable.
- Commitment to delivering high standards of evidence-based practice, flexible, motivated, creative, can-do/solution-focused approach, committed and confident in sharing own expertise and developing the knowledge and skills of others.
- Knowledge and understanding of the needs of children with complex conditions and their families, the services available for them, Health and Safety at Work, the regulatory process for these children and their families, palliative care, loss, and bereavement for children.
- IT skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
