Senior Planner Job Description

We are excited to be working with a national residential developer, a lean yet successful team that acquires and secures planning for residential-led developments across the North West and Scotland. Once planning is gained, this business sometimes builds out themselves.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Appraise potential development sites alongside land buying colleagues for both financial and planning viability.
  • Manage pre-apps, planning applications, and planning promotions through the development process, supported by external planning consultants.
  • Act as the first point of contact for any planning issues internally.
  • Negotiate S106 agreements.
  • Discharge conditions and deal with RMAs.
  • Attend meetings for Planning Committee, Consultations, and similar events in representation of both the Company and clients through the planning process.
Requirements:
  • A Town Planning or Property Development degree (ideally RTPI or RICS accredited).
  • Experience in consultancy or a client-side role (Local authority considered).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A driven and ambitious individual who wants to make a career work within a developer, understanding the importance of budgets and time to a project.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to work in a collaborative team to either start their career client-side or continue within a busy and ambitious firm. With no one else in the team as a more senior "Development" professional, your scope to grow is limitless.
