Talent Drive | B Corp™ is seeking a skilled Category Procurement Specialist to join our team. As a Category Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing fresh produce for our client, a leading food service business.
About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a family-owned business that is expanding its team to hire two Category Buyers. As a Category Procurement Specialist, you will be part of the team responsible for developing category strategies for the allocated categories within the overall fresh produce category.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supplier Management: Find potential suppliers, visit, and meet existing suppliers, building and maintaining relationships.
- Negotiation: Negotiate best price on key product categories ensuring quality and technical requirements are met.
- Category Development: Develop category strategies for allocated categories within the overall fresh produce category.
- Internal Relationships: Manage key internal relationships with supply chain, sales, operations, logistics, and quality teams.
- Communication: Communicate with suppliers to ensure delivery requirements are met.
- Research and Development: Research and source new products.
- Performance Management: Ensure suppliers' performance is managed to meet requirements.
- Support to Sales and NPD: Support sales and NPD activities.
Requirements:
- Experience: Previous fresh produce procurement category experience (ideally at least 5 years), preferably in foodservice, wholesale, or FMCG environment.
- Skills: Strong capability in analysis and use of Microsoft Excel, excellent analytical and negotiation skills, strong commercial and market awareness.
- Personality: Great at stakeholder management across the business, comfortable in front of customers, suppliers, and senior management.
