Bitterne Park School, a thriving educational community in the region, is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support its students and staff.

About the Role

This dynamic position involves working closely with teachers to deliver engaging lessons and provide targeted support to students. Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with Teachers: Work with class teachers and the SENCo to assess pupils' needs and develop individualized learning plans.
  • Building Strong Connections: Develop supportive, caring, and secure relationships with students, promoting respect, self-esteem, and a positive school ethos.
  • Providing Teaching Support: Offer class teaching cover (planned or unplanned) using lesson plans prepared by the teacher.
  • Addressing Diverse Needs: Understand and address the specific academic, physical, and emotional needs of students.
  • Supporting Curriculum Development: Assist in the planning, development, and delivery of suitable programs of work, including for students with specific learning needs.
  • Monitoring Student Progress: Track student progress and report back to the class teacher and SENCo as necessary.
  • Leading a Team: Oversee the work of other Teaching Assistants, including their performance management, training, and deployment.
  • General Duties: Assist with general school tasks, including setting up classrooms, preparing resources, and maintaining a tidy learning environment.
Requirements

We are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant who possesses:

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational support role.
  • Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent knowledge of the national curriculum and effective teaching strategies.
  • Passion for education and a commitment to supporting the academic and personal development of students.
Key Information

The successful candidate will be required to work at Bitterne Park School, providing a first-class education to over 2,000 students.

**Salary:** £29,300 - £34,300 per annum, based on full-time equivalent.
