About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Polaris Children's Services - Becker School. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in helping pupils with their educational and personal development.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Mentoring and supporting individual pupils or small groups, promoting positive learning outcomes and behaviour management techniques;
  • Collaborating with the Classroom Teacher during lessons, ensuring seamless communication and effective lesson planning;
  • Reporting on pupils' progress and concerns, liaising with other school staff to guarantee pupils' needs are met;
  • Supervising pupils during non-classroom time, including extra-curricular activities and school trips;
  • Assisting with lesson preparation, setting work where appropriate, and providing constructive feedback;

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills;
  • Previous experience in a similar role, such as a Teaching Assistant;
  • Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an educational setting;
  • Experience in taking additional responsibility in areas of school, such as food hygiene, forest school, lunchtimes, or yoga;
  • Confidence in managing behaviours and implementing techniques;
  • A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn;
