Job Title: HGV Class 1 Driver

We are seeking a skilled HGV Class 1 Driver to join our Transport Team based in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Deliver and collect customers' freight as assigned by the Transport Office to and from various locations and regions.
  • Multi-drop delivery and collections.
  • Supervise the loading of your vehicle to ensure products are safely loaded and secured to minimize damage.
  • Ensure the correct goods and quantity of goods are loaded and unloaded.
  • Plan your day and route in the most cost-effective and operationally efficient manner.
  • Present, process, and return customers' Delivery Notes.
  • Secure and return Proof of Delivery advice notes (POD) electronically and/or manually.
  • Inform the Transport Office of any delays to or whilst at work.
  • Maintain your vehicle (inside and out) in a clean and tidy condition.
  • Refuel your vehicle daily in accordance with Company Procedure.
  • Exercise due care and attention to other road users and members of the public through safe and courteous driving.
  • Wear the required PPE as designated by site signage.
  • Report all accidents and near misses.
  • Have a clear understanding of the Company's Policies and read the Drivers Handbook.
Requirements:
  • Experience as an HGV Class 1 driver.
  • Experience trunking hub to hub (pallet force).
  • Clean Class 1 (C+E) Licence.
  • Valid Driver CPC.
  • Current Digital Tacho Card.
  • Knowledge of Vehicle weights and legal limits.
  • Drivers Hours and Working Time Directive Regulations.
  • Road Traffic Laws.
  • Construction and Use Regulations.
  • Freight container and Port of Felixstowe operational experience an advantage but not required.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Effective communicator.
  • Ability to accept responsibility and carry out responsible tasks.
  • Computer literate.
